The first thing that worries people who want to implement the smart search on their site is whether Multisearch would work with the content management system of their site. Then the second question follows immediately — how to integrate the search on their site? Here are the answers.
The solution that fits
Multisearch is designed in such a way that it is easy to integrate it into any site, regardless of which CMS it runs. The search installation is the same for all CMSs. The Multisearch works with:
- 1C-Bitrix,
- OpenCart,
- WordPress,
- Joomla!,
- Drupal,
- Magento,
- PrestaShop,
- CS Cart,
- MODX,
- WIX,
- UMI,
- InSales,
- Shopify.
But we have exceptions here. There is no possibility to set the search for sites on such platforms as Tiu.ru and Prom.ua because their programmers do not give this option. But this is rather the exception than the rule. If programmers revise this rule, there will be no integration problems even on these platforms.
There are 2 ways of integration: installation via plugin and API integration
Here are features of installation via the plugin:
You need to send us an XML/YML feed with the content of your site at first. We configure it within an hour: we set up the plugin to open by clicking on the search box or the search button and connect the database of synonyms. We also analyze the feed and send recommendations for file uploading to enable maximum search capabilities.
Then you get a ready-made JS code from us, which you need to write down on all pages of the site right after the <head> tag in the same way as the GA code. There is another way to install the plugin — via GTM. Read here how to install Multisearch in 15 minutes via Google Tag Manager.
Right After the code installation, the search on your site will become smart. In fact, the plugin is a ready-made search. After its installation, you will not need to set up the search field. The search response speed will be 50-150 ms.
It is possible to modify the plugin by redefining CSS styles. To change it, you need to register new styles in the CSS file of your site.
Advantages of the plugin:
- You can Install it easier and faster than the API;
- There is a possibility to track conversions from the search via GA;
- Suitable for small sites;
- Available in all Multisearch pricing plans.
Features of the API Integration:
The API integration is more complex than the plugin one and is available in Professional and Enterprise pricing plans. But such integration will allow you to make a search get-request and receive the result in the form of ranked product IDs, categories, etc., in JSON format. After integration, the search will also return a result with autocomplete, search suggestions, categories, and products. This option is more suitable for sites with more than 15,000 users per day traffic.
For the API integration, you will need the help of your programmers. You also need to send us the data feed first. After that, we will prepare API documentation for your site, which your programmer will use to set up a search.
Such kind of integration will allow you to choose any design option for search results. It has more flexible output adjusting and a possibility of additional integrations. The API search response rate will be 50-100 ms.
Advantages of the API integration:
- The search box looks familiar for regular site’s customers;
- Ability to add products to the cart from the results page;
- Ability to track conversions from internal search in GA;
- Flexible configuration.
